What This Usually Means
If AutoDJ shows as running or tracks appear to be advancing, but listeners hear silence, the problem is usually somewhere between the AutoDJ source and the SHOUTcast output. The music files may be fine while the encoder, output connection, audio processing, or server process is not producing usable stream data.
1. Confirm That AutoDJ Is Actually Active
Open your Centova Cast control panel and confirm the AutoDJ status. If the status changes repeatedly, stops, or shows an error, treat the problem as an AutoDJ startup or process problem rather than an audio-volume problem.
2. Check the AutoDJ Playlist
Verify that the playlist contains playable audio files and that the playlist is actually enabled. If tracks are being skipped, check the AutoDJ logs for file or decoder errors.
3. Check the Stream Output
Confirm that the stream itself is online and that the configured output is connected to the SHOUTcast server. A running AutoDJ process does not automatically guarantee that audio is reaching listeners.
4. Check for Audio Processing Problems
If ReplayGain, normalization, or other processing is enabled, temporarily test with the simplest working configuration. If audio returns after processing is disabled, investigate the processing chain rather than changing unrelated server settings.
5. Restart AutoDJ When Appropriate
If the server was previously working and suddenly became silent, a controlled AutoDJ restart can help determine whether the problem is a temporary process or output condition. Record any log messages before restarting so useful diagnostic information is not lost.
What to Send Support
If the problem continues, provide the exact AutoDJ status, the approximate time the audio stopped, the name of a track that should have been playing, and any relevant Liquidsoap or source log messages.
Still Having Problems?
If the problem continues after checking the items above, digiSTREAM support can help determine whether the issue is related to the encoder, AutoDJ, streaming server, or network.
- The exact error message, if one is displayed.
- Your streaming server port.
- Whether AutoDJ or a live DJ is currently connected.
- What changed immediately before the problem began.
- The approximate time the problem occurred.
