MP3Gain Guide for Internet Radio

MP3Gain can be used to analyze and adjust the perceived loudness of MP3 files so a music library has more consistent playback levels.

Analyze Your Files

Analyze a group of tracks before making changes. Review the calculated gain and clipping information.

Track Gain

Track Gain applies a loudness adjustment to individual tracks so they can be brought toward a common target level.

Clipping

Clipping indicates that the requested gain adjustment could push audio samples beyond the available digital range. Avoid settings that introduce audible clipping.

Consistency Matters

A consistent library can make an Internet radio station sound more professional because listeners do not need to constantly adjust their volume between songs.

Use a Limiter Carefully

If additional processing is used in a broadcast chain, configure it carefully. Excessive compression or limiting can create distortion and listener fatigue.
