My Station Is Offline

A practical checklist for determining why a digiSTREAM SHOUTcast station appears offline.

Quick Tip: Start with the first checklist item and change one thing at a time. This makes it much easier to identify what actually fixed the problem.

First Determine What Is Offline

Check whether the SHOUTcast server itself is unavailable, the AutoDJ process is stopped, or only the live DJ encoder is disconnected. These are different problems and require different checks.

1. Check the Control Panel

Log in to Centova Cast and review the station status. Look for stopped services, failed starts, or warning messages.

2. Check AutoDJ

If your station normally runs 24/7, verify that AutoDJ is running and that it has a playlist with playable tracks. A stopped AutoDJ leaves the station without an active source.

3. Check the Live Encoder

If you are broadcasting live, verify that SAM Broadcaster or another encoder is connected to the correct server and port.

4. Check for a Recent Change

Think about what changed immediately before the station went offline: password, port, encoder settings, software update, server restart, or network change. Recent changes are often the fastest clue.

When to Contact Support

If the control panel cannot start the service or the server remains unreachable after checking the basic configuration, contact digiSTREAM support with the exact status or error message.

Still Having Problems?

If the problem continues after checking the items above, digiSTREAM support can help determine whether the issue is related to the encoder, AutoDJ, streaming server, or network.

Helpful information to provide support:
  • The exact error message, if one is displayed.
  • Your streaming server port.
  • Whether AutoDJ or a live DJ is currently connected.
  • What changed immediately before the problem began.
  • The approximate time the problem occurred.
