Mixxx and AutoDJ — Switching Between Live DJ and AutoDJ
A practical guide to switching between a digiSTREAM AutoDJ stream and a live Mixxx broadcast without leaving the station in an unexpected state.
Understand the Two Sources
AutoDJ and your live Mixxx encoder are two different sources competing for the station's broadcast connection. The handoff must be performed according to the configuration of your digiSTREAM service.
Before Going Live
- Confirm Mixxx is configured with the correct server and port.
- Load and test your music in Mixxx.
- Verify your microphone and master audio if you use them.
- Know how your digiSTREAM AutoDJ service handles live-DJ handoff.
Going From AutoDJ to Live Mixxx
Follow the live-DJ handoff procedure provided for your station. Do not repeatedly connect and disconnect Mixxx if the server is already handling a live source.
Returning to AutoDJ
When your live session is finished, disconnect Mixxx cleanly and verify that AutoDJ resumes according to your station configuration.
Important: The exact handoff behavior depends on the digiSTREAM/CentovaCast configuration of the station. If AutoDJ does not resume, contact support with the station port and time of the handoff.
