How to Test Your Streaming Port

Testing the streaming port can help determine whether a connection problem is caused by an unreachable server or by the broadcasting software configuration.

Know the Correct Port

Use the streaming port assigned to your digiSTREAM service.

Test From the Broadcasting Computer

Testing from the same computer that runs SAM Broadcaster or another encoder can help identify local network restrictions.

Check the Server

A port test cannot prove that your encoder settings are correct. It only helps determine whether the destination can be reached or whether a service is listening.

Firewall Considerations

A local firewall, corporate network, VPN, or security application may interfere with streaming connections.

Use Error Codes

If SAM Broadcaster reports an error such as 10060 or 10061, search the Knowledge Base for that specific code.
