Common Causes
An encoder may fail to start because of an incorrect server address or port, an authentication problem, an invalid encoder configuration, a conflicting connection, or a local SAM configuration problem.
1. Verify the Server and Port
Confirm that the hostname or IP address and the streaming port match the information supplied for your digiSTREAM service. A single incorrect digit can prevent the encoder from connecting.
2. Verify the Password
Re-enter the correct streaming or DJ password. Do not assume a recently changed password has automatically updated inside SAM Broadcaster.
3. Verify Encoder Type and Format
Make sure the encoder is configured for the streaming service and audio format you intend to use. Confirm the bitrate and other required settings are supported by the service configuration.
4. Check for Another Active Source
If AutoDJ or another DJ is already connected to the same source connection, SAM may not be able to take control. Determine which source is currently active before repeatedly restarting the encoder.
5. Look for an Error Code
If SAM displays a numeric error, search that exact number in the digiSTREAM Knowledge Base. Numeric errors such as 10060, 10061, 10054, 401, and 11001 can point toward very different causes.
Still Having Problems?
If the problem continues after checking the items above, digiSTREAM support can help determine whether the issue is related to the encoder, AutoDJ, streaming server, or network.
- The exact error message, if one is displayed.
- Your streaming server port.
- Whether AutoDJ or a live DJ is currently connected.
- What changed immediately before the problem began.
- The approximate time the problem occurred.
