How to Configure SAM Broadcaster for SHOUTcast

This guide walks you through the basic information needed to connect SAM Broadcaster to a digiSTREAM SHOUTcast server.

Before You Begin

Have your digiSTREAM server hostname or IP address, streaming port, password, and the required SHOUTcast server type available. Make sure your digiSTREAM service is running before testing the connection.

Create or Select an Encoder

In SAM Broadcaster, open the Encoder settings and create or select the encoder you will use for your digiSTREAM stream. Select MP3 if that is the format configured for your service.

Enter Your Server Information

Enter the server address, port, and stream password supplied with your digiSTREAM service. Use the exact values supplied for your account.

Configure Audio

Select the bitrate, sample rate, and stereo/mono settings appropriate for your stream. The encoder settings in SAM Broadcaster must match what your streaming service accepts.

Test the Connection

Start the encoder and watch SAM Broadcaster's encoder status. A successful connection should show the encoder connected and transmitting audio.

If It Does Not Connect

Verify the server address, port, password, and encoder type first. If you receive a specific SAM Broadcaster error code, search this Knowledge Base for that code.
