SAM Broadcaster Metadata Isn't Updating

Troubleshoot SAM Broadcaster when song titles or stream metadata stop updating.

Quick Tip: Start with the first checklist item and change one thing at a time. This makes it much easier to identify what actually fixed the problem.

Audio and Metadata Are Separate

A station can continue broadcasting audio even when its song title information is not updating. Treat metadata as a separate part of the stream connection.

1. Confirm SAM Is Changing Tracks

Verify that SAM is actually moving from one song to another. If playback is stuck, the metadata may appear stuck because the source itself has not changed.

2. Check Encoder Metadata Settings

Review the encoder's metadata or title-update options. Make sure the encoder is configured to send current song information to the streaming server.

3. Check Artist and Title Tags

Confirm the tracks contain usable artist and title information. Poor or missing tags can produce incomplete or generic metadata.

4. Compare With the Player

Different players and directories can cache metadata. Test more than one listener/player source before concluding that the server is not updating.

If Metadata Remains Stuck

Note whether the audio continues normally, whether every track shows the same title, and whether the problem occurs for all DJs or only one encoder.

Still Having Problems?

If the problem continues after checking the items above, digiSTREAM support can help determine whether the issue is related to the encoder, AutoDJ, streaming server, or network.

Helpful information to provide support:
  • The exact error message, if one is displayed.
  • Your streaming server port.
  • Whether AutoDJ or a live DJ is currently connected.
  • What changed immediately before the problem began.
  • The approximate time the problem occurred.
