BUTT Connection Problems
Troubleshoot failed SHOUTcast connections, incorrect credentials and disconnections in BUTT.
Check the server entry
Verify the server type is Shoutcast, the hostname has no URL prefix, the port is the source connection port, and the password matches the intended source or DJ account. Do not confuse the public listener address with the encoder address.
Check AutoDJ and source occupancy
When AutoDJ is active, live DJ access may require an account-specific login or different port. Only one encoder may be permitted on a given source connection at a time. Verify your station’s configured live handoff method before stopping AutoDJ.
Read the exact error
- Try connecting once and record the error or status from BUTT.
- For a timeout, check DNS, firewall and network access.
- For a rejected login, recheck credentials and the server type.
- For repeated disconnects, check upload stability and avoid an unsupported bitrate.
