RadioBOSS — Connect to digiSTREAM SHOUTcast
Use this guide to configure RadioBOSS desktop software to send your station audio to a digiSTREAM SHOUTcast server. The exact labels can vary slightly by RadioBOSS version, so use the settings shown in your installed version.
Before You Begin
Have the server connection information from your digiSTREAM account or CentovaCast panel ready:
- Server hostname or IP address
- Broadcast port
- The correct source or DJ password for the connection you are using
- The audio format and bitrate supported by your plan
Open RadioBOSS Broadcast Settings
- Open RadioBOSS.
- Select Settings → Options.
- Choose Broadcast in the settings list.
- Enable Broadcasting enabled.
- Click the + button to add an encoder.
You can use the Configuration Wizard or enter the connection details manually. Choose the SHOUTcast server type supported by the server connection information provided for your digiSTREAM account.
Enter the Server Details
Enter the values supplied for your digiSTREAM server:
-
Server: hostname or IP address only. Do not add
http://unless your provider specifically instructs you to. - Port: the broadcast port, entered as a number.
- Password: the password assigned to that encoder connection.
- Username: enter one only if your specific connection method requires it.
Do not guess the port or password. If AutoDJ is running, your live DJ connection may use a different port or credentials from the public listener stream.
Choose the Audio Format
Choose an encoder format, sample rate, bitrate, and channel setting supported by your digiSTREAM service. RadioBOSS documentation lists MP3, 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps, stereo as a common starting point, but your service settings take priority.
- Use the bitrate assigned to your plan or agreed with your station administrator.
- Do not select a higher bitrate than the server or plan supports.
- For a typical music station, stereo MP3 is a practical starting point when supported.
Start Broadcasting and Confirm
- Save the encoder settings.
- Confirm the encoder is enabled in the Broadcast settings.
- Start playback in RadioBOSS.
- Check the RadioBOSS report/log for Connected to server! or the specific error reported.
- Open your digiSTREAM listener link in a separate browser or player to confirm that audio is actually audible.
A connected status confirms the encoder connected, but listening to the public stream is the best final check that audio is reaching listeners.
Still Need Help?
If RadioBOSS will not connect, note the exact error text and encoder number. Confirm the hostname, port, password, server type, and whether another DJ or encoder is already connected. Then contact digiSTREAM Support with the error details. Never send your password in a public support post.
