SignalCaster — Icecast Connection Troubleshooting (Mac)

Check your Icecast connection details

SignalCaster's Icecast destination must point to an Icecast server. Verify the hostname, source port, mount point, source username and password against the connection details supplied with your digiSTREAM Icecast account. Do not use the listener URL in place of source connection details.

If SignalCaster cannot connect

  1. Confirm the Icecast server is online and the source credentials are correct.
  2. Verify the hostname and port without adding an unrelated web-site address or a SHOUTcast admin URL.
  3. Check that the mount point begins with / if the field expects a mount path, and that its spelling matches the server configuration.
  4. Check whether the server requires a secure connection and whether your installed SignalCaster version supports the required connection type.
  5. Review SignalCaster's Activity Log for the exact error, then contact digiSTREAM Support with the error message and time of failure. Do not share your password.

If connected but listeners hear no audio

  1. Verify that the selected SignalCaster audio source is playing and its level meters respond.
  2. Check the output format and bitrate against your Icecast server's supported configuration.
  3. Confirm you are listening to the correct Icecast mount-point URL, not merely the server homepage.
  4. Test with a short known-good audio source and check the Activity Log for warnings.
