VirtualDJ Connects but There Is No Audio

Troubleshoot a VirtualDJ SHOUTcast connection that appears active while listeners hear silence.

VirtualDJ Connects but There Is No Audio

This is one of the most confusing VirtualDJ broadcast problems: VirtualDJ reports that it is broadcasting, but the SHOUTcast stream is silent.

Key test: Watch VirtualDJ's master/output meters while music is playing. If the master signal is not moving, the broadcast encoder cannot receive the expected audio.

Check the broadcast source

  • Make sure music is actually playing on a deck.
  • Verify the deck and channel volumes are up.
  • Verify the crossfader is not fully away from the playing deck.
  • Verify the master output is receiving the mix.
  • Open VirtualDJ Settings → Audio and verify the selected audio configuration matches your hardware.

Check the radio-server broadcast configuration

VirtualDJ's current Broadcast settings support SHOUTcast using MP3. Verify the radio-server configuration is complete and that the broadcast is actually directed to the radio server rather than a direct computer broadcast.

If the server shows the source connected

A connected source with no audible stream usually points toward an audio-routing, mixer, encoder, or source-level problem rather than a basic network connection problem.

Quick isolation test: If possible, switch temporarily to a simple internal/master audio configuration. If audio appears, restore your hardware configuration one component at a time.
