VirtualDJ Won't Connect to My SHOUTcast Server

Troubleshoot VirtualDJ when it cannot connect to a digiSTREAM SHOUTcast server.

VirtualDJ Won't Connect to My SHOUTcast Server

If VirtualDJ will not establish a connection to your digiSTREAM SHOUTcast server, work through the following checks in order.

  1. Confirm the Server value is exactly the server hostname or IP address supplied by digiSTREAM.
  2. Confirm the Port is your assigned SHOUTcast streaming port. Do not substitute port 8000 unless that is actually your assigned port.
  3. Confirm the Password is the source/streaming password required by your server configuration.
  4. Confirm VirtualDJ is configured for ShoutCast rather than Icecast when your digiSTREAM service is using SHOUTcast MP3.
  5. Temporarily disable VPN/proxy software and verify that Windows Firewall allows VirtualDJ to communicate.
  6. If the error is connection refused or timed out, test the server and port from another application or computer if available.
Important: A correct password cannot make an incorrect server address or port work. Verify the address and port first.

If SAM Broadcaster or another encoder can connect to the same server and port from the same computer, that is useful evidence that the server is reachable and the problem is likely within the VirtualDJ configuration.
